Empower Hosts District Cooling Summit 2023 Alongside COP28: A Milestone in Climate Action

Empower will host the District Cooling Summit 2023 in the Green Zone, in collaboration with the International District Energy Association (IDEA). This summit, slated for the 5th of December from 10:00 am to 01:30 pm at the Connect Conference Centre in Expo City, Dubai, underscores the critical role of district cooling in fostering energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The District Cooling Summit aims to shed light on the pivotal role of district cooling systems in achieving energy efficiency targets, fulfilling Sustainable Development Goals, and combating climate change. It will serve as a platform to showcase district cooling as an eco-friendly and energy-efficient solution for urban, community, and campus environments. Notably, Dubai has been designated as a “Champion City” for district cooling by the United Nations, emphasizing the UAE’s leadership in adopting sustainable cooling technologies.
The agenda for the Summit is packed with insightful panel discussions covering various topics such as ‘Energy Transition and Low-Carbon Solutions’ and ‘Policy Support and Financing for District Cooling Infrastructure’. Aligned with COP28’s thematic program for December 5, focusing on ‘Energy Transition’, the Summit aims to catalyze ambitious actions towards decarbonizing the cooling sector.
During the Summit, experts will delve into the tangible benefits of district cooling, including reduced energy consumption, preservation of natural resources, and significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
